Infiniti GT-R : Will They Sell It?

Its no secret that Infiniti is the upscale brand of Nissan. Toyota has Lexus, and Nissan has Infiniti, both conceived as brands to sell a higher quality vehicle than people were used to getting from the Japanese manufacturers. Both companies founded in 1989. Infiniti has shown its Essence concept car at several shows and specialized events over the last few years. 592 hp, a hybrid. Twin turbo V-6. Its not really a Lexus LFA rival, but it would be a step up from the Nissan GT-R, which some owners might be happy about. There are always quiet a lot of gripes about taking their $80k or $90k car to the same place that services Sentras, and Cubes.

The latest news reported by Car Magazine is that Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn has at least been talking about the possibility of a Nissan GT-R powered Infiniti supercar.

we have a lot of people saying “why don’t we use the power of the GT-R and give it an Infiniti body?” Ghosn told Car.

“The idea makes sense. It’s a great car, the GT-R. Is it a project now? No. But I don’t want to give you the impression we’ll never do that. But I don’t want you to think that it’s coming in the next two to three years either.

So, its not something that is happening right now, does that mean five years, eight years out? 2016, 2017, 2018 timeframe? I would be surprised to see the current GT-R last that long in production with the VR38DETT. If they drag it out that long, will it be direct injection, some kind of mild hybrid, 7 speed, by 2017-2018? They are going to need something to be able to comply with ever increasing emissions, and CAFE standards.

Everyone in the blogosphere seems to rave about WordPress and hates blogger. I like blogger, but I will give this a shot on WordPress also. I own the domain 2009gtr.com and I can forward it to here. For now, I will play around with WordPress and see if I like it.

Stolen from Erics – Beyond the Dyno blog Eric got it from the Option Magazine that Cosworth , and he are in. Eric doesn’t seem to like the numbers that the Dynapack spits out at you. I have found that Dynojet, Dynapack read very similarly. He has spent a lot more time on the dyno than me , but I know what I have seen.

500 whp with an exhaust change is no joke. I did not think the ECU would allow the car to run higher boost, with changes like this. It seems like the all knowing , all controlling ECU is not as big and bad as Nissan said it was. I really don’t like the look of this exhaust still. Who really needs 4 exhaust tips ? Works great for the Corvette guys , I want to see a true twin, or one big single exhaust. Add some mid-pipes , add some boost , and we will see 550 whp.

After a comment on here I noticed that the TC is set to 1.05 and the gear ratio is not setup correctly . The gear ratio will not have too much effect, the TC will.

‘The GT-R is monstrously good. It locks on like a missile. Seriously, this thing hooks up and accelerates like a Bugatti Veyron. Its body control is breathtaking, too – you just know that this car has been meticulously engineered down to the last tiny grommet. I seriously doubt that there is a car on the planet that can corner faster or more aggressively than this.’
