Mines R35 GT-R at Tsukuba
December 7, 2007Familiar Best Motoring professional driver Takayuki Kinoshita was lapping Tsukuba in this new GT-R at 1 minute 3 and 4 seconds. This is extremely fast for a stock car without any modifications.
This was mentioned to me before – GPS based speed limiter. If you are at a track, it will allow you to exceed the speed limiter, if you are on the street, it will not allow you to exceed the speed limiter. If you hack the GPS,and make it think you are on a track, you wont have a speed limiter…
On the street – I guess they took the on the street video down
From GTR.co.uk
“Mine’s took out their new R35 at Tsukuba today. Managed a 1.03.1 second lap. Very good indeed. I then heard the driver, Kinoshita-san, left the VDC/TC control in “R” mode. Which explained why the car seemed to cut power when exiting corners. With the VDC/TC systems turned to “OFF” this thing will easily lap close to a second faster. 1.02 at Tsukuba is fast for a standard car…..
Engine was probably tight too…they just picked it up last night!”

Winding Road: Another GT-R launch Party
December 5, 2007“Tokyo rocked to the beat of a wild party today when Nissan launched the new GT-R…underground, in the soon-to-be opened Yamate roadway Tunnel.
Yes, welcome to the “Tokyo Underground Night Nissan GT-R X Shutoko Yamate Tunnel,” a wacky, all-guns-blazing launch party for the GT-R, on the eve of the new 480 horsepower superhero going on sale, in Japan, on Thursday, December 6.
Tokyo has a mass of overhead roadways that form the Shutoko expressway, roads which circle the city and in parts also dive underground.
Ah yes, but the Shutoko also happens to be a legendary late night raceway for gearheads with pumped up GT-Rs, Evos and STIs (also featuring on several video games). It is, you could say, Tokyo’s very own answer to Detroit’s Woodwood Avenue.

Edmunds Inside Line throws a GT-R party
December 5, 2007Most of anyone that has read or seen this blog has seen the pictures and videos from the Edmunds/Inside Line GT-R owners meet, where Nissan brought out two new R35 GT-R’s.
There is a video , and a ton of photos from the event at the link.
“In about a minute, Inside Line will be the first media outlet to drive the 2009 Nissan GT-R on American soil.
Well, sort of. We’ll be hitting speeds approaching 4 mph.
Two Nissan GT-Rs, one red and one silver, are stowed behind the TBWA/Chiat/Day building here just north of the Los Angeles International Airport. Paul Hawson, Nissan’s product planner for the GT-R, will drive the red one to the crowd waiting out front, and we will pilot the silver one behind him. We aren’t going to be driving at more than walking speed, but we’re planning to rev the cars a bit to show off their voices.”
No Nissan GT-R until 2009
December 4, 2007
No Nissan GT-R in Australia until 2009. First is Japan this week. The deliveries to customers starts on Thursday, or Wednesday depending on how you look at days and times.
NISSAN has a dilemma on its hands. The company has produced such a remarkable car that it has already sold out, without even hitting showrooms
As our readers pointed out previously, one could buy the GT-R in Japan and ship it to Australia quicker than Nissan Australia can sell the car here. But there is an issue with Nissan Australia having already registered its intentions to bring the car to Australia, ending any hope of grey-imports being road-registrable.
